Family
The family, according to the Universal Declaration of human rights, is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to the protection of society and the State.1 The main links that define a family are of two types: affinity ties arising from the establishment of a link recognized socially, such as marriage2 -that, in some societies only allows the Union between
two people while that elsewhere is polygamypossible-, and bonds of consanguinity, as the affiliation between parents and children or the ties established between the brothers that descend from the same father. You can also differentiate the family according to degree of kinship between members.
There is no consensus on the definition of the family. It is legally defined by some laws, and this definition is usually give according to what each law establishes as a marriage. Its spread is considered for the marriage heterosexual nuclear family is the basic family. Forms of family life are very different, depending on social, cultural, economic and affective factors. The family, like any social institution, tends to adapt to the context of a society. This explains, for example, the high number of extended families in traditional societies, the increase in single-parent families in industrialized societies and legal recognition of the Homo families in societies whose legislation has recognized same-sex marriage.
